What’s in store for 2013?

I’m looking forward to the new year for a number of reasons. Chiefly among them is the prospect of handing the reigns of The Giving Tree over to a new Executive Director so I can pursue some other projects that have been percolating in my mind for a while. The Mister is going to be enforcing a two month employment break on me once I depart The Giving Tree, which is awesome as I will then be able to concentrate, at least for a while, on my creative endeavors. This works out well, because I am getting pretty serious about a new project and dearly wish for more time to play with it.

I’ve been flirting with the idea of this project for a couple of months now, and I can safely say at this point that we are into each other. I’ve done enough research to feel confident that I am up to the task of the thing, and I’ve started in on the work and feel good about what I have so far. I’ve given the broad strokes to a couple of people and the response has been positive, and on Christmas Eve I told the Mister about it and he actually teared up. (I have the most amazingly supportive husband in the world!) I’m not ready for the big reveal on this project yet, as there is much work to be done before I will feel assured that I can actually finish it. However, because I am an optimist (who knew?) I am starting this blog to document my progress, in the hopes that I will actually succeed and that others may benefit from reading about how I did it. Well, that and it’s nice to have an outlet for exploring my thoughts as I embark on this new adventure.

So, fair reader, wish me luck. Luck first in finding someone good enough to take over The Giving Tree so I can leave, and then luck again on this new and mysterious project. 2013, here I come!
